Peter O'Connor - Head Chef

Peter O’Connor is a Multi Award winning Chef who specialised in Events and Corporate Catering and has cooked for Prime Ministers, Presidents and Celebrities.

In 1998 he was offered the position of Personal Chef to the Prime Minister of Australia at Kirribilli House. Subsequent to this, after consultation with his mentor Raphael Kahn (Zest Waterfront Venues), he continued with his top kitchen brigade to add to his awards, winning Events Caterer of The Year for Sydney and NSW. Peter was also part of the Master Caterers Team selected to provide meals for the Sydney Olympics.


Chef's message

Barrakee is tucked away high in the mountains but our mission is to source as much fresh local produce as possible. The Snowy Mountains, Canberra, Southern Highlands and the beautiful South Coast offer us a wonderful array of produce and we will do our best to bring it to you. We prefer organic wherever possible.

We have tried to balance a menu that caters for the hungry skier but retains a modern cuisine approach. Our hearty buffet breakfast gets you off to a good start with home style porridge, cereals, fruit and even our homemade jam. A varied selection of hot food should ensure there is something for everybody.

Join us every evening at the bar for après ski with warm snacks around the log fire. Then sit back in our dining room and enjoy a delicious three course meal. We have an excellent wine list for your selection or you can let us pair the wines for you.
